Pender & Coward’s COVID-19 Preparedness Update
As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to evolve, our topmost concern remains the health and safety of our employees, clients, friends and communities.
Pender & Coward’s offices in Virginia Beach, Chesapeake and Suffolk remain open, although we are using alternatives to in-person meetings such as communications via telephone, email, video conferencing or virtual meetings and strongly discourage in-person meetings. Many of our attorneys and staff members are working remotely and we have plans in place to provide uninterrupted service to Pender & Coward clients.
We have also taken additional actions that include:
Workflow – We have deployed our IT plan and encouraged attorneys and staff members to work remotely, without interruption.
Meetings – We have adopted alternative means of communication such a telephonic and virtual communications such as Zoom or Go To Meeting to replace in-person meetings.
Courts and Localities - We remain in contact with courts and localities regarding changes to schedules and protocols.
Office Safety Measures – We have instituted increased cleaning of common areas. We have provided instructions to our employees on how to reduce the transmission of germs. In accordance with guidelines provided by the Governor of Virginia, we require face masks for anyone entering our offices.
Business Travel – We have postponed business travel for the near future.
International Travelers – We have asked employees who have recently traveled outside of the U.S., or who have taken a cruise, to work remotely for 14 days after returning to the U.S., per CDC recommendations.
We care about the safety and wellbeing of our employees, clients, friends and communities and hope everyone remains safe and healthy during this time.
